Winning the job war

How do I find the right job?

How can I present myself most effectively, through my CV or in interviews?

how can I overcome problems such as a lack of experience?

It’s not enough, of course, to find a new career. You need to win the job war.

We make no apologies for the military terminology. A significant career move needs to be tackled like a campaign if it is to be successful. It needs focus, commitment and dedication.

First, it’s important that your CV presents you in the best possible light with regard to your new career goals, not your past ones. We will examine your CV with an objective, professional eye, and use the results of your career appraisal to make sure it reflects your strengths and is focused towards your new plans. The emphasis is on ensuring that both CV and covering letter stress your suitability for the career you are seeking, rather than making changes for the sake of change.

And if interviews are not your strong point, we can give you advice on dealing with difficult questions and interviewing styles, as well as setting up practice sessions. Practice really is the best way to overcome interview nerves.

One of the benefits of previous career experience lies in the contacts you have made and the links you have forged. We will supplement this with contacts from our company databases, and help you prepare speculative and directed approaches to targeted employers.

Perhaps most important, we’ll keep you focused on your job campaign, and help you maintain momentum when faced with the inevitable setbacks. It’s all too easy to give in to the feeling that "it's a nice idea, but it'll never happen". We’ll do our best to prevent that.

If you would like to know more about our job search modules, contact us and we’ll be happy to give you more information.

Case Study

MJ, 36, was employed as a Marketing Communications Manager before finding himself made redundant. After two "wrong turnings", he sought help with his CV to help get himself back into his preferred career path.

He commented:

"This CV reads fantastic, far better than my earlier version. I certainly agree with you on this, now I have put this to the job I want. Many thanks for your valuable assistance."
